Giving prizes (and high prices) for the wrong reasons? Westminster's 2013 Best In Show champion was the progeny of a father + daughter mating (and that's just the tip of the iceberg on what's been going on in "fancy" dog breeding over the last 1.5 centuries). Keep in mind, prize winners command the highest fees for breeding. Their abundant offspring, the dogs you buy as pets, and then their progeny as well, continue adding to a population of dogs already horribly inbred for generations and getting sicker all the time. None of this is rocket science. Simple farmers and humble sheep herders knew better for thousands of years before DNA even had a name.
